Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) is hiring a Sequencing Specialist for the BioSkillDX project
OIST is hiring a Sequencing Specialist to support the BioSkillDX project.
Your main work will be running sequencing experiments and building or refining protocols. You will also document each experiment systematically — text, video, and audio — and collect metadata from experts in the field. Both tasks feed directly into the project's mission of surfacing and transferring tacit laboratory knowledge.
We're looking for someone with a Master's degree or higher in science or technology, or equivalent professional experience. You should be comfortable with core molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and cloning. Fluency in Japanese is essential, as you will collaborate closely with Japanese-speaking team members.
Annual salary is 3–8 million yen, set based on experience. The position is on-site at the OIST campus in Onna Village, Okinawa.
The contract runs for two years, including a six-month probationary period, and is renewable through the project close date of July 31, 2030. Applications must arrive by November 30, 2026.
